THE FIRST MEETING OF THE ECONOMIC COUNCIL OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF ROJA was HELD

The first meeting of the Economic Council of the Municipality of Rožaje was held, attended by the President of the Municipality, Mr. Ejup Nurković, the President of OO BS, Mr. Amer Nokić, and members of the Economic Council Džeko Kožar (Head of the Internal Audit Service, B.Sc.Ecc) and Armin Mujević (Secretary for Finance), the meeting was chaired by the President of the Economic Council, prof. Dr. Safet Kalač.
The Council was formed on the initiative and proposal of the President of the Municipality, Mr. Ejup Nurković, and the task of the Council is to create and propose measures that will contribute to the creation of a more favorable economic environment for foreign and domestic investments. All this on the basis of available natural resources in certain economic branches such as forestry, wood processing, tourism, agriculture and the like. Bearing in mind that there are 13 municipalities in the north-eastern region, which also includes Rožaje, and according to the 2011 census, there are 179,000 thousand inhabitants. Which, in addition to nature, also represents an impressive human potential and a working-age population.
The Council is a professional legislative body that will help the President of the Municipality of Rožaje and his associates to identify priorities for the strategic development of the Municipality of Rožaje. All this for the purpose of improving competitiveness and stimulating the development of existing business entities as well as opening new jobs, with certain incentive measures when hiring workers with the support of the Government of Montenegro. The Council should analyze and propose a list of priority projects of importance for the balanced economic development of all local communities on the territory of the Municipality of Rožaje.
Based on the development strategy of Montenegro until 2020 and the development strategy of the Municipality, which is harmonized with the strategic documents of the Government of Montenegro in cooperation with the Secretariat for Finance, the Council will draw up an Action Plan that will be adopted by the local parliament. Then make a decision on implementation with concrete tasks of the president's associates as the most responsible for implementing the decisions according to the established dynamics with continuous control of the spending of funds provided by the local administration in the form of soft loans, as well as funds from EU pre-accession funds.
It was concluded that the Economic Council will listen to the views of citizens and make proposals for measures to be applied when it comes to economic policy and prosperity. In addition, the council will act in an expanded composition and in cooperation with all secretariats, services and directorates, in order to become better acquainted with the factual situation and jointly make productive decisions and take concrete steps for the sake of the prosperity and betterment of the Rožaje economy. In addition, conditions will be created for easier preparation of projects and applications for European funds.
