On Saturday, September 20, the first mountain marathon was held in Rožaje on Mount Štedim (1750 m above sea level), organized by NGO PO "Runolist" and PK "Ahmica". The event was part of the manifestation "Hajla Day" in the districtiru of the project "Promotion of sustainable tourism through the involvement of young people in the Municipality of Rožaje".

The goal of the marathon (besides the competitive one) also has the sought-after promotional and touristic purpose. The biggest goal of the marathon was to provide information and live evidence about the natural potential and untouched nature, which is authentic to the Rožaj region. This was witnessed by numerous guests from Russia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo and Montenegro, who helped give the Rožaj Marathon an international character, which, when you take into account that the marathon is being held for the first time, is one from things that raised the level of competition.
The NGO PO "Runolist" stated that this kind of manifestation was held (for the first time) in Rožaj, sent positive signals to all people who are in love with nature, above all the mountain range of Prokletija, and that the Rožaj region as such represents an indispensable detail in the tourist offer Montenegro.

The organizers of the marathon emphasized the hope that the marathon will not stop there, but will grow into traditional events held in Rožaje.

The marathon was divided into five male and five female categories.
40 runners and 20 mountaineers started the marathon, who could not resist conquering some of the peaks surrounding Rožaje. All proceeds from contestant registration will be donated to children with special needs.

The marathon consisted of two courses for runners and one for hikers. The bad weather in the afternoon could not hide the smiles from the faces of the competitors who were more than satisfied with the seen regions and mountains of the Rožaj region.
