President of the Supreme Court on a working visit to the Municipality of Rožaje

The President of the Municipality of Rožaje, Ejup Nurković, today received in his office the President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, Mrs. Vesna Medenica, the President of the High Court in Bijelo Polje, Mr. Tofila Žujović and the President of the Basic Court in Rožaje, Mr Zahid Camić.

On that occasion, Ms. Medenica pointed out that due to the importance of the judiciary for the Euro-Atlantic integration processes of Montenegro and the rule of law, as the president of the Supreme Court, she considers it useful that there is good cooperation between the basic courts and the municipalities for whose territory these courts have local jurisdiction.

In the conversation, they discussed the challenges that lie ahead in the coming period, as well as the mechanisms for improving mutual cooperation.

"I appreciate that it is in the interest of Montenegro, all municipalities, including the municipality of Rožaje, for the survival of locally competent courts. This greatly reduces the costs of citizens and affects the speed of the implementation of court processes. The existence of the Basic Court in Rožaje is a very important issue for us and we will insist on it. I expect that the state will listen to the needs of citizens, including local communities. The role of good relations between all institutions is indisputable, and we will strive to be a good link between state and local organizations. I believe that we will overcome all challenges together, that we will show readiness for Euro-Atlantic integration and meet their expectations. We must work together to improve the capacities of the courts and their modernization," said the president of the municipality of Rožaje, Ejup Nurković, at the working meeting.
