Free two-year English language learning program

Dear students,

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States of America and the Embassy of the United States in Podgorica, together with the Association of English Language Teachers of Montenegro ELTAM, invite talented students of the 1st and 2nd grades of secondary schools from Rožaj, aged 14 to 16, from families with lower financial status, to apply for receiving a scholarship for a two-year program of English language classes called the English Access Microscholarship Program.

This Access Program is intended exclusively for students from socially disadvantaged families1 in the Municipality of Rožaje. The candidates will be selected by representatives of the Association of English Language Teachers of Montenegro ELTAM and the US Embassy in Podgorica. The number of participants is limited. We ask that you propose potential candidates based on the mentioned criteria and help them apply for the program, with the consent of their parents/guardians.

 

About the program:

The English Access Microscholarship Program is a micro-scholarship program for learning English and getting to know the culture and values of the United States of America through 360 hours of English language classes and additional activities (projects, study visits, camps). The skills students gain through the Access Program will help them take advantage of opportunities previously unavailable to them. The Access Program is intended for talented students of the 1st and 2nd grades of high schools aged 14 to 16 whose economic situation does not allow them to participate in other similar programs. The program takes place after school hours for two years (from October 2017 to October 2019). The scholarship covers the cost of tuition and books.

 

How to apply:

In order to apply for the Access Program, it is necessary for students to fill out an application form that can be downloaded from www.eltam.me or from the school's secretary/pedagogue. Send the completed form to the email address [email protected] or deliver it to the secretary/pedagogue of the JU Secondary Vocational School from 09:00 to 14:00 on weekdays (Ul. Omladinska bb).

Applications must be submitted from September 7 to 27, 2017. Incomplete and subsequently submitted applications will not be considered. Selected candidates will be invited to an interview, when they will need to submit additional documentation.

  •  Socially vulnerable families mean families that are beneficiaries of material security at JU Center for social work, as well as families who are not beneficiaries of material security, but for economic reasons, ie due to their difficult financial situation, they are unable to provide their children with participation in such and similar activities programs and trainings. It is necessary for candidates who are invited to an interview to attach the following documents: birth certificate, certificate from the last completed grade, two photographs, certificate of monthly family income, certificate i.e. the last check on the financial support of the family, confirmation that the parent(s) is/are on the record of the unemployed, a certificate of singleness if the parent is a single person or a certificate of divorce, a certificate of acquired rights on the basis of disability (other people's care, personal disability allowance), declaration of domestic union (to regulate social issues), and a letter recommendations from school/teacher.
