The torch of peace arrived in Rožaje
The "Torch of Peace", which promotes peace, harmony, friendship and understanding between people in Europe, arrived in Rožaje today.
The longest relay race with a torch dedicated to peace in Europe started from Portugal and ends in Italy, in Rome. In this way, sport promotes peace, harmony, friendship and understanding between people. The reception of the "Torch of Peace" and the meeting with the runners was organized in Pljevlje, Bijela Polje, Berane, and today it arrived in Rožaje.
The "Torch of Peace" on the town square was welcomed by citizens and representatives of the local administration led by the President of the Municipality of Rožaje, Mr. Ejup Nurković.
Ajsel Kalač, Secretary of the Secretariat for Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Rožaje, joined the run and symbolically brought the "Torch of Peace" into the city and held an appropriate welcome speech with the President of the Municipality.
During 2016, the participants of the "Race of Peace" will cover an average of 100 kilometers per day, of which each runner will cover an average of 10 to 30 kilometers.
Many world figures have supported the initiative, including Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Mother Teresa and Carl Lewis.
